Apple announced “new computers” today, although these updates usually just include some improved performance or functionality to existing products. That’s one thing that allows them to continue to be competitive. They’ve done a great job choosing the lines of products that they offer, and an even better job at improving those products to suit the consumer. I am using a 20″ iMac as I write this, and was a bit bummed to see the 24″ option come out days after my purchase — and for the same price! And today they dropped the price of the 24″ machine today to $1,499. The price of the 20″ just a few days ago, with twice the memory and storage (and obviously 30% more in the display). And the 20″ has dropped to the $1,199 price as well. You will not find a competitive product for the price, I guarantee that. Could they really be entering the “affordable zone” now? That’s the question!
Quite a few people contacted me today, sharing that they were anticipating the laptops price range dropping soon as well. We’ll have to wait and see, but I have to give the company props for today’s announcements. I’ve built my own computer, and have used pretty much every brand on the market, and the performance of the computers Apple makes far outshine the competition. Not to mention the obvious success of their other products (iPhone specifically). It’s not really Microsoft that should be worried. That battle is over. Apple computers can now run Microsoft’s Windows operating system. And if you’re suspicious of switching and losing your files, they’ve taken care of that as well. You can have the store freely transfer them for you when you switch. It’s companies like Dell, HP, and Toshiba that should now be concerned. Sure, Apple still only holds a minority of the market. But it’s obvious that is changing. And their price point is just another smack in the face. What kind of things stand in the way of you buying a Mac? If you have switched to the Mac, has it been worth it?
PRAYING for my friend Daryl, as he flies in from Atlanta for our second Digital Disciples gathering on Thursday. PRAISING God for providing individuals to help my wife as she is improving through her headaches / pains.
