The light is too bright

Not sure if you knew this or not, but I have three homes. Feel free to jump to conclusions or get all liberal on me like the media with John McCain and his seven houses. My first home is not of this world. “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ”. Made pretty clear in Philippians 3:20. A few of you have been to my second home here in Ohio, and each of you has now been to my third home, the internet. I’m glad I’ll be spending more time in the first home than the last two!

brightlightI spend quite a bit of time in my third home, the internet. Mostly because I do work there, but it’s also where I meet new people like you. That’s what makes this home interesting to me. The people I interact with. The media, graphics and all of that is fun, but it wouldn’t be worth it without the people. But I have to be honest. Some of you scare me! You live in the same house I do, but I think you turned the lights on too bright. You whispered in my ear that you follow this Jesus I do, but you’re standing in front of the mirror with all of the light pointed at you. To think of the other people in this house that have no clue you even follow this Christ baffles me. It drives a stake into my heart, and leads me into some serious time of prayer.

We each have an audience on the internet, and it really doesn’t matter how large or small that is. This is something I am seeing to be true more every day now. And from what it looks like, a large audience shines too much light on the individual too often. Why I blog about this is for a few reasons. I have to keep myself accountable, to people like you, to make sure that the light that I turn on makes Christ so much more brighter than it does me. Praying that just a single spark ignites your life, and starts a fire blazing through your soul.  Challenging you and I to proclaim His name many more times than our own. These aren’t just thoughts of mine. Jesus himself made it more clear than I ever will in Matthew 10:32-33. “So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.” He cannot be denied, and I beg you to dim the light and wake up. This isn’t your house, it’s His.

  1. Wow, Gabe, thanks for this post- this is so true- I pray every day that as I blog & comment on others' blogs that I would be an encouragement and a light for Him!
