God’s Mac update

Things are going better than I thought they would, to be honest. We now have segments 1 (technology) and 2 (meets / interview) recorded and edited. I am going to spend tonight getting the 3rd and final segment (eternity) ready and edited. It took time to prepare for the first two, but I really want to always have the final segment be the one with the most focus. I thoroughly enjoy technology and really appreciated the opportunity to interview someone, but this is where the rubber meets the road.

I appreciate your prayers and can tell that God is at work first-hand. You hear some folks talk about hearing God or having some sort of a spiritual awakening. This is no mystery or strange thing that everyone can’t understand. This is the evidence of God guiding a life and giving the greatest comfort that you are doing the right thing. Never before have I poured an effort like this into something, knowing that there is success no matter who hears or sees the result.

I could try to describe it, but would rather press you on to find that in your own life. God has something like this for us all – a hobby, talent, circle of friends, neighbor, podcast, book, team, job, and so on that He doesn’t have His entire hand around……..only because we’re holding onto them ourselves. Thanks God – for showing me where you want me to be. It’s my prayer that each one of the readers / listeners take this day to listen to you and find what it is you want us to use for you. You are life.

First God’s Mac interview recorded

Well, the first interview is recorded…..via speech over the internet using http://www.skype.com and software the records conversations through it at http://www.ecamm.com/mac/callrecorder. I was able to call the first interviewee’s phone number, thanks to free US minutes from Skype til the end of the year (will be cheap after that I am sure) and then record them directly into my computer to mix into the rest of the podcast. The whole technology just blows me away.

What blows me away more is that there were so many (so many could even just be 2-3 but I know it was more) that were praying for this ministry tonight. Praying that God would be heard and not Gabe. I’m going to record a fairly quick technology review session, and then conclude the podcast with a prayer request time and re-focus session at the end of it all………and then we will be live with PODCAST #1. With the technology in place now I can proceed with further interviews and let God move as He chooses. Thank you again for coming and checking in for an update. Please, please pray that God is heard through this ministry, and praise Him tonight for allowing me to utilize technology.

Our slogan isn’t “technology meets eternity” for nothing……it really is on now. It’s gametime and it’s good to look over and see satan sipping on a waterbottle, taking a breather, with the scoreboard having us in favor………no overtime will be needed either.

iMac arrival

We got back from Daniel and Stephanie’s (Marla’s sister) wedding rehearsal tonight to find the new iMac in the garage. I won’t bore you with all the details, but have attached a few pics. I’m heading out to get this thing running……podcast coming in maybe a week! Have a great weekend!

God’s Mac needs your help!

I am gathering information for the upcoming launch of the http://www.godsmac.com podcast. Most of my time right now is spent on scheduling interviews. I am going to partner with a technology group in Nashville to blast the new podcast out here in about a month, which should help quite a bit. Even with that, I want to allow this to be something that not only the listener enjoys, but that it is something that they want to email their friends about – no matter the race, age, gender or faith. I am building my own personal email list here for the podcast and would VERY much appreciate adding you to it (as well as any friends you believe might either enjoy it or need to hear it).

The easiest way for me to get those would be for you to send the email addresses in the body of your email (each on a new line or something) to mail@taviano.com – with Godsmac.com in the subject.

Thanks so much for your help. God is showing me more and more each day that this very well could be the ministry niche He has for me, and I want to do my best to be of the most use!

Not too busy

Weird – weird – weird past few months. New child. New job. New house (soon to be). New eating habits. New time to wake up. Getting tired more often. New surroundings. Actually exercising very frequently. House showings out the wazoo – and some of those interested being grown adults who bring their parents along to make the decision for them (I won’t write one more word about that……Satan would love to pounce all over this blog). I haven’t been too much into change in the past, and I really wish I could complain about everything that is going on. Instead I think many of the things in the list are things God has used to mold me and my family for the better.

I will share two things I am VERY, VERY excited about, and might be a little more open than some would care for.

1. We get to find a new home church in a few weeks after we move to the Columbus area. This is something that just excites me to death. I know there isn’t a perfect church, even in areas like Columbus that have so many to offer. I do know that God will give us a place where we can engage in ministry / outreach opportunities, can share life with close friends, allow our kids to grow closer to the Lord in very important stages of life, and the list God has already filled out could go on and on. I know without a doubt that this will be a great transition for us and will keep you posted fairly soon.

2. God has moved me from working full-time at home to working in a corporate environment. I still have opportunities to assist ministries through technology on the side, but sense that God is shifting things and wants to use me and technology to really reach the unsaved market more. It wasn’t really clear to me how He wanted to do this a few weeks ago, but since then things have really changed quickly. I have been listening to podcasts (30 minute – 1 hour recordings / radio style shows on my iPod) the last few months while driving to and from work.

It’s basically a new technology that lets anyone record and store their own show on the internet and people can download it for free. Some people are even starting to do video podcasts, but that is definitely something I do not want to mess with. The audio podcasts are derived from every type of information you can think of. Just like radio and television. There are pastors sharing sermons, chefs sharing health and recipe tips, major television networks and radio stations entering the mix, and of course explicit and censored material like you get on the internet, radio, television, and everywhere else on the face of the planet.

I have been putting money aside to save up for a new computer (and making the switch to Apple on this one), and this didn’t hit me until after that started. After listening to some of the technology podcasts and also mostly to the http://www.walkintheword.com podcasts, I sense that there is such a huge void being left with potential for great impact for the Lord. I’ve used the slogan “technology meets eternity” in the past and have actually purchased and am designing a site at http://www.GodsMac.com (yes – it can be confused with the band “Godsmack”). For the first time in my life I can sense God working in ways I could not have dreamed of. Once the site is finished I will be hosting a weekly podcast (downloadable to your computer or iPod) for listening purposes.

My plan is to start scheduling the “show” in three sessions to follow my slogan. The first 5-10 minutes will be spent on reviewing technology and how God can and is using that (very, very broad range of topics of conversation available). The second 5-10 minutes will be spent interviewing someone via phone or audio chat (could range from pastors, friends, technology experts, etc – very broad options again). The third and final 5-10 minutes will be spent with a focus on eternity and how technology needs to adapt with that being the goal. This last session will include a focus on Bible study, listeners prayer requests, current events, etc. (possibly could be very broad too). So that’s kind of how I am hoping to make the “technology – meets – eternity” slogan become a literal thing. Please pray that God continues to push me forward and praise Him for bringing this opportunity about. Talking about excited – just ask my wife if she can feel the steam blowing out of my ears?

Thanks for reading this far if you have made it! Being busy isn’t so bad after all is it?
