Learnin’ the ropes

Two weeks ago I got my first RC electric plane stuck in a tree, so I ended up buying the F-27 Stryker pictured below. I’ve got some learning to do with this one since I threw it and it dove nose-first on takeoff. It’s great that glue can fix it and we can try again soon. I mistakingly had the throttle on and ready when ready to throw, when the manual tells you to not turn plane on until after you have thrown it. I don’t read manuals, but I guess now’s a good time to start. I also went out and met the Mad River Flying Association (http://www.flyurbana.com) and will be joining the club soon. They have a nice grass flying strip about 20 minutes from my house and definitely know much more than I do about this hobby. They’ve already been help with some tips on this new plane. Is there anybody else that has been in this hobby?

President Bush visits

Just thought I would throw a few pics up that I took yesterday from the President’s visit to Findlay, OH. It was a fairly long day. They were expecting maybe 10,000 people to show up……..there ended up being maybe 16,000-18,000 people there. My right foot was numb for the last two hours from standing in the same tiny spot for so long, lol. It was well worth the wait……..many great prayers, speeches, and free goodies, plus the weather was perfect. Five more days!

Bush and Kerry debate

I realize that the war in Iraq is of utmost importance, but we have to realize that there isn’t a human being out there that could take the presidency over and make this thing go away quickly. There also isn’t an individual out there that, just because he takes office, means that all of these other countries will now be our friends? After watching last night, and being bored for 90 minutes, it makes me realize that having an individual with the right morals in the office is just as important as having one in there that has the best chance of securing our freedom against terrorists. George Bush is correct in not swaying from his stance on the war. It’s absurd that Kerry even tries to force him to admit he’s done wrong. As his opponent I realize he has to take that approach, but it is obviously only being done because of the political agenda that must be created. If Kerry even wants a shot at this election I would suggest that he does something that make Bush stop saying that he is still swaying in his views on the war. It doesn’t appear to me that going to an Ivy League is all that it is cracked up to be? You would think that being in such an elite group of scholars that one of these guys would pounce at any threat of an opposing view?

Pretty cool to think that this blog technology is being used by the president for this election – http://www.georgewbush.com/blog

First blog and data recovery

For two weeks I have actually been without a computer, so I’m starting to blog to get back into the swing of things! The hard drive on my laptop went bad so I sent it to Florida for data recovery. The guys at DTI Data were able to pull the information off of the drive and send it back on my external drive. Although it was pretty expensive, they were the best deal I could find and were able to recover every file for me.

Without the information I would have lost all of the websites I have created (unable to update them unless I re-created them) and 1,000′s of digital pictures of our family from the last 8-9 months. I couldn’t avoid the drive crashing, but I definitely could have backed all of that data up before hand (wouldn’t have had to pay to get it back). Life goes on I guess.

It’s amazing to go through something like this and realize that God will get you through it no matter what. Without that understanding I would have easily been angered or depressed about it all. Exciting things will be happening in the near future so stay tuned!
